Aubrianna Dunn places 2nd in the Playstation Nigh Slopestyle Contest!

Hello Everybody,

I am down under learning all about the Australian style! It has been snowing on and off for the past 15 days and the resort is busy. The snow is definitely different down here, wet and heavy. They have been pushing around snow and making the features/jump lines top notch. I am so stoked to be down here. The half pipe s
hould be done in the next few weeks. It has rained/snowed the past 7 days, so I’m hoping the snow conditions continue to hold up. The locals have been telling me this has been a record-breaking snowfall. Apparently it doesn’t snow this much very often, especially this early in the season. It just keeps getting better!

This weekend I competed in the Play Station Night Slopestyle contest at Front Valley at Perisher Ski Resort. The weather conditions where perfect through out the competition. The lights here are not the best but we were still able to see.. They groomed the park hard, fast, and furious making for some excellent conditions.

The park was set up just right! We had a few options with two down rails, a cannon box jump, a 35 ft jump, 45 ft jump, and the money booter at 55 feet. I stomped both my runs and was able to finish second place out of 10 girls. I was intimidated during practice, all the girls where throwing down hard. I thought I needed to step up my run but thought if I stomp my stock tricks, add some style, I would finish in the top five. Sure enough I was able to walk away with the silver in the women’s open class. The contest consists of a three event series. I am sitting second in points and looking forward to the next event. The next Play Station Night Slop Style event is August 20th at Front Valley, which gives me 4 weeks to step up my game. I will be sure to keep you all posted.

I would like to give a shout-out to Thug Krew, S4 Optics and Tyrant Snowboards, and my coach Stevie B for all their support in helping me pursue my passion. Thanks for taking a moment to check out what I have been up to down under. For now “ooroo” - the OZ way of saying “see ya”!

A little Input with Aubrianna Dunn on the ALRT goggle

"I love the way this goggle fits on my face. I have a small face and it is hard to find a goggle that does not smash my nose and cut of my airways. So stoked on my S4's. Thanks!"

Brock all over the Nation!

B*ROCK here checking in with an update on my nomadic travels this summer.
It was to start in May with a job in South Carolina but ended up needing emergency surgery on the ol' gut. After a month of recovering from that I set out on the road with my girl, Kayce. We had a whole two months of travel and road trippping ahead of us. Our destination for the first month was North Carolina and we made our way across ColoradoKansasMissouriKentucky, and Tennessee while camping along the way. We saw some crazy and interesting things along the way being that we were on a mission to only take the side roads and avoid the interstates.

"This dude made about 1/4 miles worth of all these crazy political metal yard ornaments"

"Stopped at the Jack Daniel's Distillery for a tour in Tennessee"

We reached N.C. and spent some time on the beach and with Kayce's family eating a ton of deep fried southern food. I thought my gut would never recover after all that grease... I did get some beach time in though. My ginger skin didn't know what to do in the sun.

"These legs don't see the sun for a good 6 months of the year"

After a week there we started to make our way to Virginia to meet up with one of Kayce's old room mates. And this is where probably the funniest part of the trip happened. Although it wasn't that funny as it happened... I'll share the details.

Upon arriving in Richmond after driving for 4 hours after breakfast and eating a greasy turkey sandwich on the road, the stomach and gut only had one thing on their mind.  Kayce's friend lives on the top floor of this old building and the whole floor is about 2500 square feet and very open. The only bathroom happens to be right smack dab in the middle of the whole floor. Right where everyone happens to be... I get into the bathroom and there is no fart fan. I know its a big one brewing and is not going to be pleasant smelling. But, alas I notice there is some air freshner spray on the toilet. All good to go. Just gotta be quick so they don't realize I did the dirty deed.  I sit down and try to muffle the loud noises with coughing and such.. Mind you I'm trying to be quick to give the appearance I only peed.  I flush the toilet, grab the air freshner and squint my eyes so I don't get any in my eyes as I'm spraying the small bathroom. Except it didn't make that aerosal sound. I open my eyes all the way to see that I've sprayed shaving cream for legs EVERYWHERE.  You can imagine the pickle I'm in at this point... Trying to rush time I haphazardly clean it up with the crappy toilet paper. Off the tooth brush, toilet, mirror, ceiling, stacks of magazines, etc. left the bathroom quickly and shut the door behind me hoping no one would go in before we left again... What a pickle that was.  After the short visit in Richmond, VA we made our way to Washington D.C. and did some tourist like site seeing.

"The Capitol in D.C."

Next we headed back to the western part of Virginia to meet up with some friends after which we made our way to Chattanooga, TN to kick it on an organic farm for a day and night. Staying on the organic farm and seeing how simple my friends live has been one of my favorite parts of the trip.

"Eat Organic! Be a hippie!"

After a rad time on the farm we headed to meet up with some friends in Louisville, KY where we ended up driving through the storms brewing tornadoes. It was some crazy rain and wind. We could see the funnel clouds in the distance. Once everything settled down we took off to Pittsburgh, PA to stay for a few weeks with Kayce's mom.  While in Pittsburgh we caught a Pirates game. I guess their doing really well this year. I never have any idea cause I've never been one to follow organized sports much...

"Not bad seats if you ask me"

When we packed the car again we headed to Brooklyn, NY and stayed with a friend for a few days. Kicked it in Central Park and met more friends for drinks at various locations. Not really a fan of the big city... Too many people for me and no mountains to shred! We decided to head up to Beckett, MA and swoop up our friend Mark for some camping in Vermont. It was late when we got over the border into VT so we found a remote camp site and set up. The stars were out and I was a happy camper with a beer in my hand.

"After a long trek into the woods I came back with some firewood"

We dropped Mark off the next morning and continued up into VT where we floated the river with some homies just outside of Killington Resort. If I had to move somewhere outside of Utah I would definitely consider Vermont. The place is pretty ulitmate. When we finished floating the river and jumping off cliffs into the swimming holes, we headed to the top of the state to Burlington where Burton Snowboards is based out of. We took a quick tour and checked out the Craig Kelly memorial before heading over to a kickball game with some locals. Combine two thirty packs with adults playing a kids game and it's a whole evening of debauchery...

"Kicking it at kickball with the VT crew"

After our time in VT we drove six hours out of our way for some pizza in New Jersey. It was worth it though. When the pizza was gone we made a long push back to Pittsburgh through the night. I'm here for a few more days and then Kayce and I will be making out way back to Utah for the rest of the summer. It's been an epic summer so far with lots of adventure but it's time to get back and start training for the season. And by training I mean watching copious amounts of snowboard flicks and getting amped for the season. Speaking of amped, have you guys checked out the Transfer Googles from S4? Can't wait to throw my pair on and hit the backcountry!

"I'll catch you guys back on the slopes!"
